Joy Ann Brockhoeft Ryder, 90, of Verona, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2025. Born on September 20, 1934, in Covington, Kentucky, she was preceded in death by her husband George Bert Ryder, son Ted Wallace Ryder, grandson Sawyer Braden Webb, foster daughter Teresa Tomlinson, parents Theodore and Garnet Mae Humphrey Brockhoeft, and sister Virginia Cunningham.

After completing her GED, Joy pursued a nursing career and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at Boothe Hospital from 1981. She and her husband were foster parents to many children, including five babies in foster care when they welcomed their own twins.

Joy is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson. Her family suggests memorial contributions to Walton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or a preferred volunteer organization.
