Roads in the City of Florence, Kentucky, will be closed on Sunday, November 10, for the 10th annual Honor Run Half Marathon. The event is scheduled to take place between 6:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., with proceeds supporting a nonprofit organization dedicated to sending veterans to Washington, D.C.

According to the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Honor Run Half Marathon website, the nonprofit's mission is "to honor those who have served us." Proceeds from the half marathon, along with the 10K Run/Walk and 5K Run/Walk events, are donated to Honor Flight Tri State. This initiative facilitates trips for local veterans who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam to visit memorials in Washington, D.C. Over the past nine years, $385,000 has been raised for Honor Flight Tri State, enabling 704 local veterans to travel to the nation's capital. The funds were generated by 9,750 runners who completed these races over the years.

The website specifies that the half marathon will commence at 7 a.m., while both the 5K Run/Walk and the 10K Run/Walk will start at 7:45 a.m. All races begin and end under the Florence Y'All water tower at Florence Mall.

Participants in these events will receive various items as part of their registration package. According to the nonprofit organization's website, all race participants will receive "a race t-shirt, a custom finisher's medal," and post-race refreshments. Detailed race routes are available online.

The website also states that all spots for the 2024 Honor Runs have been filled. Registered runners can collect their race packets on November 8-10. Further details regarding packet pickup will be announced soon. Participants are encouraged to honor their family members or friends who have served or are currently serving by personalizing their attire with photos or names.

Race day awards include trophies for first-place overall individual males and females in each event category—half marathon, 10K, and 5K—as noted on the Honor Run Marathon website. Additionally, top finishers will receive prizes such as shoes from Tri State Running Company or gift cards valued at $50 or $35 for second and third places respectively. Age group awardees can collect their prizes at Tri State's location in Florence.
