Pastor stresses importance of giving by faith
Eryn Cummings, Children's Pastor | Heritage Fellowship

Hello again. May the presence of God be your special grace today as you walk by faith and not by sight. For a few days, I have been thinking about this verse in Genesis 4:4-5: “The Lord accepted Abel’s offering, but he did not accept Cain’s.” This makes me want to stop and ask myself, is the Lord accepting my offerings? I want to know that He is receiving what I am giving, not to impress God or to bless me on what I have accomplished. I want to be like Abel, who worshipped with his offering on the basis of trust. I trust the blood of Jesus and accept His favor on my life as a gift of God, not based on my gift. How could I ever be so arrogant to think I could impress God with my offering? Compared to the life blood of His son, it would be an insult to His mercy and grace. What is my résumé in comparison with the price He paid for our redemption? “For we are not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver and gold but with the Precious blood of Christ.” It is our humble trust in the Lord’s Sacrifice that we are accepted.

I learned early on in my walk with God how important my giving to the Lord really was. Have you ever stopped to think about how important your financial stewardship really is? The Bible teaches us that consecutive sowing guarantees consecutive reaping. You can find this in 2 Corinthians 9:6-11. Your future is whatever you have in your hand to give, right at this moment. Don’t ever allow yourself to fall into negative thinking, that your gift is too small to multiply. Every one of our gifts is capable of reproducing. It is a time-tested fact that when we put what we have in our hand in His hands, the miracle occurs.

Let me remind you today:

God wants you to succeed - Joshua 1:8.

He alone says, “I am the Lord that teaches you to profit.” - Isaiah 48:11

Remember this: “He taught fishermen, to fish more profitably.” - Luke 5:11

I love Jesus’s story of found money in tax season. It may be a good reminder for someone. - Matthew 7:27

Have you ever considered that your seed may be the only way out of your trouble, but it is necessary to sow it?

Our giving teaches us what sowing does; that God is our source.

I have always found that when I ask God to show me what to do, He is faithful to His Word and He will lead me in the path that I should take.

Giving is filled with promise, “Give and it shall be given back to you pressed down, shaken together and running over.” “Give and see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to contain it.”

With this letter, I am sending my prayers that we will become more aware that when we take care of God’s House, God will take care of our house. May God’s Windows, be open to you today.
